The Entrepreneurs’ Club can help each and every student expand their skills by experiencing the business world and the abilities needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. While helping students, the Entrepreneurs’ Club also allows business professionals to meet prospective employees, share their experiences, and promote the organization that they represent. The Club connects the Ottawa business community with the University of Ottawa’s business students.

Two large events are held during the year:

The 11th Annual “Excellence and Legacy of Leadership in Entrepreneurship” (IT) Wine and Cheese will be held on November 08, 2008. At the Wine & Cheese, both students and professionals have the opportunity to network and more importantly, to celebrate the journey to success of top Canadian women professionals. Be on the lookout for more information on this year’s keynote speaker!
The 18th annual “A Toast to Success” Business Dinner will be held on January 28, 2009. Students and professionals will be enlightened by a keynote speaker (to be announced) while enjoying a 3-course dinner at Ottawa’s War Museum. Single professionals and large businesses from the local community will be in attendance. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from the experiences of those in your field of work, as well as to establish a greater span of contacts.

The Entrepreneurs’ Club has also created an Entrepreneurship Seminar to give students an opportunity to learn about how to start their own business. This day-long seminar will assist entrepreneurs in growing their search for information on: the legal framework of starting a business, effective marketing and financial practices, and the uses of e-commerce. This experience will allow you to walk out as a more confident entrepreneur who is prepared to face the challenges of the entrepreneurial world.

On March 13, 2009 students are given the opportunity to inform guest judges about themselves and their business idea at the Entrepreneurs’ Club Elevator Pitch. At the event, students are not only given the opportunity to explain one of their passions to students and professionals who are in attendance, but one student will also win the $ 1,000 grand prize! The Entrepreneurs’ Club Elevator Pitch is expanding to new levels as we have invited students from Carleton University to compete alongside some of the University of Ottawa’s most innovative individuals.

A key element of the Entrepreneurs’ Club is that students manage it. Meaning, the executive works together, learns from each other, and resolves problems as a team. To help in our endeavors to create successful events throughout the school year, we have an executive mentor program between the executives and our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of past presidents and executives who have experienced the challenges and rewards of being a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Club. The Board of Directors provide guidance to the Club through their real-life experiences without giving the answer to any challenge we are confronted with. This differentiates the executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Club because we are empowered to become better leaders.

Francophiles is the active French club on the GVSU campus. In the new academic year of 2008-2009 we have a lot of events planned for anyone interested in France, French language, or French culture. Events are open to anyone and you do not need any experience to attend.

Like the French, we enjoy relaxed events with good food and interesting conversations …

The goal of Les Francophiles is to share the richness of the French culture with everyone. It is important that we have events that include everyone at every level of French, as well as a forum for us to speak it together.

We are constantly expanding our programs & events. Though we currently offer monthly get togethers, outings and movies we are in the process of creating workshops, lectures, and round-table discussions with faculty members. Our blackboard site is expanding as well to include various study abroad options as well as graduate school information.

Other places to find information about francophiles:

Blackboard: If you are a member of Les Francophiles already, you have access to the BB site. If not, you must go to www.gvsu.edu / Stuey and search for Francophiles and click “Join” in order to become a member. You must then accept the membership.

Facebook: Yes, we have a facebook group which, as you probably know, is an excellent way to notify members of upcoming events. In order to join search under Francophiles

Monthly Newsletter: Check it out under the “Documents” section. You’ll find articles, games, style and our event information.

2008-2009 Officers

This is an educational activity in out-of-school which is completely free of charge.
Main objectives of the club are to teach elementary students ingenious mathematics, to encourage them in studying profound subjects, to develop their intuition, creativity and assiduity of thinking in solving problems. At the moment, there are only two mathematical clubs in France holding the same idea: in Orsay and in Lyon.
It is our hope that the training, the seminars and we organize the internships will motivate pupils to choose a scientific career. At present stage, more than 200 high school students have already participated in our club’s life and it has shown itself helpful in various examinations, contests and Olympiads.
The trainings take place on Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm. The address is:
